The ply chair is an experimental approach to test the boundaries of plywood. As a contemporary construction material, plywood combines technological processes with the natural, resulting in a material that extends the limits of nature. This makes it a compelling resource for experimentation and form finding within object and furniture design. Combining traditional wood bending with the Kirigami paper folding technique, a new method is created to transform two-dimensional planes in to three-dimensional shapes.

A cabinet that started with a simple thought: what if veneer didn’t behave like a flat surface, but something more alive? By shifting layering and breaking the plane, it becomes a composition rather than just a finish. Made from walnut veneer, the natural grain adds depth and character. The front has three handleless drawers, defined by subtle lines that keep the look sleek and uncluttered. The angled, geometric wooden legs create a distinctive sight, while giving the piece a light and architectural presence.

Rosin questions the contemporary furniture production in which synthetic adhesives play a substantial and underlying role in our domestic surroundings, both harmful to human health and environment. We can find solutions for present day problems by looking into the past, with materials originating from local Swedish resources. By leaving the glue residue visible, it sparks a dialogue with the observer on alternatives that conveys the Scandinavian culture and identity.
